Michelle and Ryan | A Backyard Wedding in Northern Michigan


I knew immediately that Michelle and Ryan's July backyard wedding in Tawas City, Michigan was going to go down in history as one of the most fun and colorful in my career. I swooned when they told me about the details at their engagement session. The work and thoughtfulness into every single part of the day did not go unnoticed. I would say there are no words to describe the day but that's not the case. It filled my heart to witness and photograph this kind of love and emotion. The celebration was a true testimony of God bringing the perfect match together. If I could write down on paper my dream clients Michelle and Ryan's attributes would be listed. A string quartet performing outdoors under umbrellas on a green lawn at an elegant afternoon ceremony set the mood for the couple to walk down the aisle. THE CONFETTI. Don't even get me started on this moment. It felt like time froze still and every romantic movie I ever watched came true into my real life. It was that transformable and I wish there was a more dramatic way to even describe it. Their tent was designed around elegant wooden tables with colorful fruit, floral centerpieces, taper candles, gold chargers, and vibrant blooms. Their seating chart was filled will all their favorite people lined with ornate vintage glass vases with flowers splashed in for more color. The day was hot and threatened us with a dark sky and a little rain before they said their vows but thankfully the sky opened up to the most beautiful hues of pink, orange, red and blue at sunset. The bride and groom danced energetically with their guests to a live band performing on stage to Y2K songs. I truly wish I could live this wedding day over and over again. I'm happy to say that I left Michelle and Ryan's wedding and drove home with a smile plastered to my face the entire way.
